Words

This week I had a really hard time making time to fit in learning sign language. I used my app to it's full potential and have done all the lessons on it (just numbers and alphabet). I really liked using this app because whenever I had a spare 10-20 minutes in my busy schedule I could just quickly go on the app and learn. However like I said I went through it fast so I had to find a new source of information, youtube. I haven't found a specific channel that I really like yet, but I'm still looking.

Another way of learning sign that I've gravitated towards this week was pictures. In all honesty it's probably not the best way to learn and to get the hand gestures right, but its helped a ton!

This week I focused on single words: sorry, please, help, thank you, etc.
Words that would come up in everyday conversation. That was way easier than learning the alphabet and numbers. I think because the gestures make sense with the word, if that makes any sense (I'll include a picture of the gestures).

My phone is out of storage so I was unable to do a video this week but I'll post some of the pictures I was using this week:

ABC

My first post and my second lesson on sign language! So far I'm really loving it and picking it up really easy. My only problem that I have encountered was last week I taught myself the ABC's with my hand facing me. I was watching a video this week and realized my hand was backwards! So today I spent about an hour reteaching myself facing whoever I would be signing to, which sounds easy but it totally wasn't!

This week I focused on my hand positioning, and what really helped me do this was an app called ASL Learning - How to Sign Language Learn. It shows you all the hand movements for the alphabet and numbers up to 9, which I'm planning on learning another day this week.

Here's a quick video of me signing the alphabet:
